The clock is ticking! A $1 million Mega Millions prize from the Michigan Lottery awaits its rightful owner.

The winning ticket for the Mega Millions drawing held on March 17, 2023 matched the numbers 26, 28, 29, 39, and 49, with a Mega Ball of 25. It was sold at the CVS Pharmacy, on 18130 West 10 Mile Road in Southfield. It's time to check your pockets, rummage through your drawers, and scour every nook and cranny because this could be your ticket to a big prize.

Don't let procrastination steal your chance at claiming this life-changing prize. Reach out to the Lottery's Player Relations division soon by calling (844) 917-6325. Schedule an appointment to collect your winnings, but remember, the prize must be claimed in person at the Michigan Lottery's headquarters in Lansing.

Here's the crucial part - Mega Millions tickets are only valid for a year from the drawing date. Since the deadline falls on a Sunday (March 17), the claim window closes even sooner. You have until 4:45 p.m. ET on March 15 to make your claim.

What happens if the winner fails to step forward before the deadline? The winnings will not be lost. Instead, the prize will find a new purpose in supporting the state School Aid Fund. If you want to claim the prize, you must do so before the deadline. Otherwise, the winnings go to the fund.

How to play

To play Mega Millions, get a playslip at your favorite Michigan Lottery retailer. A single play costs just $2. Select five different white ball numbers from 1 to 70 and a single gold Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. You can also choose Easy Pick for randomly generated numbers. For an extra dollar, you can add a Megaplier to your ticket, potentially multiplying non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.
Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday evening, offering players across 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands a shot at new wealth.

The impact of the Michigan Lottery

Beyond doling out life-changing sums to fortunate winners, the lottery holds a vital mission close to its heart. It's not just about the thrill of the game; it's about giving back to the community. Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent on lottery tickets circulates back to the state, fueling education programs, dishing out prizes, and supporting vendors and retailers.

In the fiscal year of 2023 alone, the data indicates that the Michigan Lottery provided over $1.3 billion to Michigan's public schools, marking its fifth consecutive year of surpassing the billion-dollar mark. Since its inception in 1972, the Michigan Lottery has contributed an enormous $28 billion towards boosting public education in the state.

As you contemplate your next Mega Millions play, remember that every ticket purchased is not just a shot at your dreams but a contribution to the collective good.

Enjoy the Michigan Lottery, and please play responsibly.
