Time’s running out: Ten prizes up to $2 million expiring within four months for Iowa Lottery

Lottery players in Iowa are reminded to double-check their tickets before it’s too late!

If you live in Iowa, then you could be sitting on a winning lottery ticket and you need to claim it before it expires.

The Iowa Lottery has announced that ten lottery prizes ranging from $10,000 up to $2 million have gone unclaimed, and they are about to expire within the next four months. If you bought any lottery tickets recently, you should be double-checking them to make sure you aren’t missing out on a big prize.

The 10 winning tickets about to expire

For these 10 winning tickets, the prizes are set to expire as early as April 1 for one ticket and all the way to July 1 for the last ticket. Included in this mix of 10 winning tickets happens to be a $2 million Powerball prize, which is the largest prize on the list.

Below is a breakdown of the 10 high-tier lottery prizes in Iowa that remain unclaimed and the dates they will expire:

  • Powerball - $50,000 winner from the Oct. 2, 2023, drawing. It was purchased at Kum & Go in Adel and is set to expire on April 1, 2024. The five white balls for this draw were 12, 26, 27, 43, and 47 and the Powerball number was 5.
  • Mega Millions - $10,000 winner from the April 14, 2023, drawing. It was purchased at QuikTrip in Urbandale and is set to expire on April 15, 2024. The five white balls for this draw were 23, 27, 41, 48, and 51 and the Mega Ball number was 22.
  • InstaPlay - $10,000 winner from the Jan. 18, 2024, drawing. It was purchased at Casey’s in Waukee and is set to expire on April 17, 2024.
  • Powerball - $2 million winner from the Nov. 25, 2023, drawing. It was purchased at Clinton Liquor in Clinton and is set to expire on May 23, 2024. The five white balls for this draw were 27, 33, 63, 66, and 68, and the Powerball number was 9.
  • Pick 4 - $30,000 winner from the March 5, 2024, drawing. It was purchased at Hy-Vee in Muscatine and is set to expire on June 3, 2024.
  • Pick 4 - $15,000 winner from the March 5, 2024, drawing. It was purchased at Hy-Vee in Muscatine and is set to expire on June 3, 2024.
  • Powerball - $50,000 winner from the Dec. 9, 2023, drawing. It was purchased at the Git N Go in Des Moines and is set to expire on June 6, 2024. The five white balls for this draw were 5, 25, 26, 40, and 60, and the Powerball number was 1.
  • Pick 4 - $18,000 winner from the March 8, 2024, drawing. It was purchased at the Git N Go in Des Moines and is set to expire on June 6, 2024.
  • Powerball - $50,000 winner from the Dec. 16, 2023, drawing. It was purchased at Casey’s in Des Moines and is set to expire on June 13, 2024. The five white balls for this draw were 3, 9, 10, 20, and 62 and the Powerball number was 25.
  • Mega Millions - $10,000 winner from the Jan. 2, 2024, drawing. It was purchased at Kampen Foods in West Bend and is set to expire on July 1, 2024. The five white balls for this draw were 3, 18, 27, 29, and 64 and the Mega Ball number was 1.

Claiming your prize

If you happen to be one of the lucky winners of the tickets mentioned above, then you must claim your prize at an Iowa Lottery office. For the $2 million Powerball prize winner, that must be claimed at lottery headquarters in Clive.

The prize-claim hours for the lottery offices are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT on Monday through Friday, with offices closed on the weekends and state holidays.
