Someone in Florida woke up very happy on Sunday morning as they won playing the Florida Lottery and hit the $4.25 million jackpot for the Florida Lotto draw game!

The winning ticket

The winning ticket was for the Saturday, May 11 drawing. The winning numbers for that draw were 2, 11, 15, 16, 18, and 26.

The lucky player matched all six numbers on their winning ticket to win the jackpot for that night, which was a cool $4.25 million. The winning ticket was purchased from a Publix store in Bradenton, so check your tickets if you made your lottery ticket purchases there.

Now that the jackpot has been won, the prize will reset to $1 million for the next drawing, which takes place on Wednesday, May 15.

Florida Lotto - how does it work?

Florida Lotto is a draw game from the Florida Lottery. The drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 11:15 p.m. ET. Each ticket costs $2 per play.

To play, you need to select six numbers between 1 and 53, or you can choose the Quick Pick option and let the computer pick the numbers for you. In addition, a multiplier number is printed on each ticket automatically. This multiple can be x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10 and will help you win bigger prizes. The multiplier applies to all prize categories except the jackpot and top prize.

Players can also choose to add Double Play, EZ Match, and/or Jackpot Combo to their ticket, which is broken down here:

  • Double Play - This is the second draw of the game. If you choose this option, you will participate in an additional draw with the same numbers and multiplier. This draw will be held immediately after the regular one. This option costs an additional $1.
  • EZ Match - This is an instant-win game from the Florida Lottery. If any of your numbers match any of the six EZ Match numbers, then you win the amount shown next to the matching EZ Match number. You can win up to $500 for adding this option to your ticket, and it costs $1 to add.
  • Jackpot Combo - If you choose the Jackpot Combo, which costs $6, then you’ll be entered into the next Powerball, Florida Lotto, and Mega Millions draws all at once.

To win with the Florida Lotto, players need to match at least two numbers. There are five prize categories for the main Florida Lotto draw, five for the Double Play draw, and 11 additional instant prizes in EZ Match. The prize categories for the main draw start at a free Quick Pick ticket for matching two numbers up to the jackpot for matching all six numbers. The jackpot for Florida Lotto starts at $1 million and increases until someone wins.

The odds of winning any prize in Florida Lotto are 1 in 7.61. If you happen to win the jackpot, winners can elect to receive their prize all at once (a lump sum) or in annual payments over 30 years.

Enjoy playing the Florida Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
