If you play Lucky for Life and live in North Carolina, your life may be about to change big time!

The winning ticket

For the Thursday, June 27, drawing, one lucky ticket in North Carolina matched all five of the white balls to win $25,000 a year for life. They missed the Lucky Ball and a chance at winning $1,000 a day for life!

The winning white ball numbers for the June 27 drawing were 5, 14, 34, 46, and 48, and the Lucky Ball number was 8.

While one lucky player won the jackpot prize of $25,000 a year for life (pre-taxes), no one won the top prize of $1,000 a day for life.

Claiming the prize

While the lucky winner hasn't come forward to claim their prize, they will have some choices to make when they do.

For this Lucky for Life prize, the winner can choose between annuity payments of $25,000 a year for 20 years or life, whichever is great, or they can choose a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 (before taxes). Which option would you choose if you won?

Big Father's Day win

In other big wins for the North Carolina Lottery, one lucky player from Wilmington turned his Father's Day gift into a big cash prize!

William Bon Viso normally gets scratch-off tickets from his aunt for Father's Day. However, she just gave him $20 cash this year, so he took that money and decided to buy his own tickets. It was a wise decision, as he turned that $20 into a $250,000 prize!

Bon Viso recently headed to the North Carolina Lottery headquarters and claimed his prize. He told Lottery officials:

I kept the tradition and bought them myself. A $20 Father's Day gift became a blessing.

'I was on a cloud'

Bon Viso bought some 20X The Cash tickets, and he started shaking after he checked his ticket because he couldn't believe how much he won.

“I was like in another world,” he told officials. “I was on a cloud.”

Bon Viso bought the winning ticket from Walmart, located at 5226 Sigmon Rd. in Wilmington. After the pick win, he said that life is all about timing and “it just shows you have to always follow your gut.”

A dream come true

Bon Viso claimed his winnings at the North Carolina Lottery headquarters on June 28. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $178,751.

He told officials:

This is beyond a dream come true.

He is planning on investing his winnings and maybe taking a vacation. Even with the money in his hands, he said he still couldn't believe he was at the headquarters collecting his money.

As far as the game goes, the 20X The Cash game debuted in February and had 10 top prizes of $250,000 available. After Bon Viso claimed his winnings, there are now three $250,000 top prizes remaining to be claimed.

Enjoy playing the North Carolina Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
