The excitement for Mega Millions is getting higher and higher as the jackpot grows bigger and bigger.

While the jackpot continues to grow, one lucky New York Lottery player snatched up a cool $1 million with their winning ticket from the August 13 drawing!

The winning ticket

The winning white ball numbers for the August 13 drawing were 34, 55, 59, 65, and 70, and the Mega Ball was 12.

The winning ticket, which was purchased at BP, located at 741 Montauk Hwy. in Shirley, matched all five of the white ball numbers to win $1 million. Are you holding onto the winning ticket?

Other Mega Millions winners

Besides this $1 million winner, there were also more than 864,000 other tickets sold in the United States that won prizes ranging from $2 up to $40,000 in the drawing, lottery officials said.

However, there were no tickets that matched all six of the winning numbers, which means the jackpot rises to an estimated $464 million, with a cash option of approximately $228.2 million, for the next drawing on Friday, August 16.

This current jackpot run has been going on since June 4, when an Illinois player won the $552 million Mega Millions jackpot.

Drawings for Mega Millions are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET.

Big Powerball wins in New York also

While the major excitement has been on the Mega Millions drawings recently, the Powerball jackpot was also growing and growing recently until one lucky ticket in Pennsylvania won the August 12 drawing.

However, there were some New York Lottery players who picked up some big wins in the past week during those Powerball drawings.

On that same jackpot-winning drawing for August 12, one lucky player in New York won $50,000 when they matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball. The winning white ball numbers for that drawing were 9, 22, 57, 67, and 68, and the Powerball number was 14. The winning ticket was purchased at Fordham Lucky 7, located at 152 E. 188th St. #154 in the Bronx.

Meanwhile, there were two big Powerball winners for the August 10 drawing. The winning white ball numbers for that drawing were 9, 24, 33, 64, and 69, and the Powerball number was 9.

One lucky winner matched all five of the white ball numbers to win $1 million. That winning ticket was purchased at Speedway, located at 3860 W. Ridge Rd. in Rochester.

The other lucky winner took home $100,000 after they matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball number. They also played the Power Play option, which doubled their $50,000 winnings to $100,000.

After the jackpot was won on Monday, the Powerball reset to $20 million for tonight’s drawing. The Powerball drawing takes place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.

Enjoy playing the New York Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
