Michigan Lottery celebrates a record year with 50 new millionaires

It has been a jackpot-filled year for Michigan Lottery players, with a record-setting number of million-dollar wins in 2024. From New Year's Day to the last drawing of the year, lucky players across the state have been cashing in on life-changing prizes.

Whether it was through Powerball and Mega Millions or Michigan's own draw games, the wins have been rolling in — leaving many to wonder: could I be next? We are taking a closer look at those million-dollar wins, including where the winning tickets were all purchased.

A record-breaking year in 2024

It was a record-breaking year for Michigan Lottery players, with 50 lucky players winning prizes worth $1 million or more in 2024. This is compared to 47 players in 2023 and 49 players in 2022.

Of those 50 winners, 18 were from the multi-state lotteries (Powerball and Mega Millions). Meanwhile, the remaining 32 winners came from playing games specific to the Michigan Lottery.

The biggest lottery wins of 2024 in Michigan

Players in Michigan wasted no time getting that winning train started in 2024. The new year kicked off with a Powerball win. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Grand Blanc for the January 1 drawing and won $842.4 million.

While no other big winners came close to that amount in Michigan in 2024, there were plenty of other players who won some life-changing money. Some of those other big winners in the Michigan Lottery in 2024 include:

March 2 – $1 million winner from the Powerball drawing after matching all five of the white balls drawn. The ticket was purchased at Ándale Mexican Grill & Cantina in Commerce Township.
March 5 – A player in Bay City purchased their Mega Millions drawing ticket online and ended up matching all five white balls drawn to win $1 million.
March 16 – This time, a player in Schoolcraft purchased their Powerball ticket online and matched all five white balls to win $1 million.
March 26 – $1 million winner from the Mega Millions game purchased at Kelly Express Mart in Jackson.
March 30 – Another $1 million winner from the Powerball game, this time from a ticket purchased at Paris Spirits & Wine in Kentwood.
April 6 – $1 million winner from the Powerball game for a player in Union who purchased their ticket online.
April 9 – $2 million winner from the $2,000 Large game purchased at Party Palace in Shelby Township.

May 8 – Forward Marathon in Pinconning sold this Powerball ticket, winning $1 million.
May 9 – Michigan Lottery players had a three-day winning streak, as they had another big winner in the state in May. This time, the winner took home $2 million playing the Diamonds & Gold scratch-off game purchased at Meijer in Mason.
May 14 – $4 million winner from the Millionaires Club scratcher purchased at B.M. Walton Marathon in Waterford.
May 17 – $1 million winner from the Mega Millions game. The ticket was purchased at a Kroger in Davison.
May 22 – The second-biggest jackpot win of the year came from a player in Romulus, who purchased their jackpot-winning Lotto 47 ticket online.
June 12 – Another $1 million winner from the Powerball game, this time with the winner purchasing the ticket at the Family Fare Supermarket in Grand Rapids.
June 18 – $6 million winner from the 500X Money Maker scratcher purchased at a 7-Eleven in Clinton Township.
