Some people don't believe in beginner's luck, but a woman from Macomb County does after playing the Cashword instant-win game for the first time and winning $150,000.

In an interview with the Michigan Lottery, the anonymous player said:

I had never played Lottery games online before, but I decided to try out the Cashword game while on MichiganLottery.com one day.

She was stunned when the prize amount of $150,000 popped up on the screen with fireworks blazing.

I instantly started hyperventilating from shock and excitement! I still can't believe that I won my very first time playing online.

The 25-year-old player recently visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim her winnings.

She said:

I just graduated from college last week, so winning this prize means I can already pay off all my student loans and it gives me a fresh start financially.

How to play Michigan Lottery's Cashword instant game online

The Great Lake State Cashword is an online Second Chance game. To play for prizes, you must enter the code numbers from an eligible non-winning Cashword instant-win ticket. Once you've entered the code, click on the 20 orange star symbols to reveal your call letters. Match your call letters to the letters shown in the grid. For example, if your call letter is a U, click on all the letters U that are present in the play grid crossword. If you are stuck, you can click on the Hint button to highlight your next move. If you don't want to play each letter, you can click on the Reveal All button, and it will automatically place your letters and show if you have won. To win, you must complete three or more words. If you do, you then have a chance to boost your prize with a bonus game. To play the bonus game, click on the yellow submarine. It will smash the box to reveal the multiplier. The amount of your prize will depend on the price of the non-winning Cashword ticket that you entered to play.
