For years, a 76-year-old woman had one heartfelt wish: a great-grandchild to love and spoil. Her family had heard her playful yet persistent requests time and time again.

But when the moment finally came, they didn't just tell her — they found a creative, unforgettable way to reveal the news, inspired by one of the woman's favorite pastimes. What unfolded was a moment so pure and joyful it quickly went viral, leaving countless viewers around the world touched by her reaction.

A lottery ticket surprise

Sarah and Kevin King had been together for eight years and married for four when they got the news they were pregnant. Their grandmother, “Granny” Rose Bell, had been asking for years for a great-grandchild.

Sarah and Kevin told PEOPLE that they would tell her that they were waiting to get married. Once married, Granny continued to ask, and now that they finally had the good news to share, they had to get creative about how they would tell her.

Going viral on TikTok

Since the Kings knew Rose has a love for scratch-off tickets, they decided to give her a special pregnancy announcement scratch-off. They captured the moment on video, which has now been shared to TikTok and has almost 700,000 views.

Rose can be seen scratching the ticket as Kevin stands behind her, watching. You can see the pure joy light up her face once she determines what the message on the ticket was telling her.

After figuring it out, Rise immediately goes into prayer, thanking God that her wish has finally come true. You can tell she has been praying for this for a while, and all I could think was, 'Someone go hug that woman,' as she lay in bed with tears of happiness streaming down her face.

Granny already knew, though

While Sarah and Kevin waited until after their first big doctor appointment to share the news with Granny, she may have already had a feeling. Sarah told PEOPLE that Rise had already guessed they were expecting, saying, “There's a baby in there,” as she pointed to Sarah's belly one day.

However, there was no confirmation until Rose scratched that lottery ticket and got the good news. It was an extra special moment for Sarah, who lost her own grandmother and found a bonus grandma in Kevin's granny.

'That's my granny now'

After sharing the moment on TikTok, viewers have all come to love Granny just as much as Sarah and Kevin do. Sarah joked that everyone is saying, “Oh, that's my granny now,” in the comments.

Another commenter said, “Granny is going to spoil that baby rotten.” And that is what Granny is doing, as the happy family has welcomed their baby son since that video was made.

Sarah told PEOPLE that Rose continues to be a source of wisdom and support for the family. Rose's advice for their son centers around faith and to “show him who God is.”

She also encouraged others to cherish these moments with their families. Sarah said, “If you have your grandma in your life, make sure to love on them because their days are short.”

Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
