Talk about dreaming about winning the lottery and it coming true!

A dream come true for this Maryland Lottery player

That is exactly what happened for this Maryland man, as he told lottery officials that he seldom plays Powerball, but he decided to buy some tickets for the September 7 drawing after having “a good dream.”

That dream happened to take place during the evening of September 6. In it, the lucky winner, who remained anonymous, said that a “famous actor,” who shall also remain anonymous in this story, told the sleeping Baltimore resident to buy a Powerball ticket.

The actor didn't tell him what drawing date to buy the ticket for or what lucky numbers he should play, just to buy a Powerball ticket.

The grandfather of three woke up on September 7 and remembered the dream he had the night before, but he just went to work as usual at his job in the entertainment industry. However, on his way home from work, he happened to stop at White Marsh Plaza Liquors, located at 7968 Honeygo Boulevard in White Marsh. He purchased one $8 Quick Pick Powerball ticket for the September 7 drawing.

Since the actor didn't tell him what lucky numbers to pick, the man said he just went with a Quick Pick option and hoped he was making the right choice by letting the terminal pick the numbers for him.

A delay in checking his winning ticket

The next day, he was at work and saw the winning Powerball numbers, but he couldn't check his ticket since it was safe at home in a drawer. He said, “I'll check it tomorrow,” but then tomorrow came and went, and he still didn't check his ticket.

It wasn't until two days later that he and his wife were together, so he finally decided to check the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app. He was quite surprised by the message he got on the screen saying he won $50,000, and was doubting it was true. The lucky dreamer decided to head to a local retailer and scan the ticket there to confirm his prize, which that machine told him the same thing — he was a $50,000 winner!

For those wondering, the winning white ball numbers for that September 7 Powerball drawing were 14, 34, 37, 55, and 63, and the Powerball number was 20.

From dreams to a new home

Now that the lucky winner has the money in hand, he and his wife said they are going to use this newfound fortune to help them buy a house in 2025.

Not only did the lucky winner want to remain anonymous for this announcement, but he wanted to basically remain anonymous from anyone knowing he won the lottery.

He told lottery officials that he was keeping his lottery luck a secret from everyone except his sister, who joined him at the Maryland Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore to claim his prize.

This lucky man had his “dreams” come true, so are you next? The Powerball jackpot for the Monday, September 24, drawing is estimated to be $208 million, with a cash option of $104.6 million.

Enjoy playing the Maryland Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
