South Carolina lottery players, don't let $300,000 slip through your fingers!

The unclaimed ticket

A Palmetto Cash 5 ticket worth $300,000 is about to expire next week, unless someone steps up and claims it.

The winning ticket was purchased at EZ Trip #2, located at 5290 Five Chop Rd. in Santee, in December 2023. The ticket was purchased for the December 29, 2023, drawing and matched all five numbers drawn that night. The lucky winner also added the Power-Up option for an additional $1, which tripled their prize to $300,000.

The winning numbers for the Friday, December 29, 2023, draw were 2, 8, 11, 15, and 17, with the Power-Up number being 3.

Deadline to claim your winning ticket

So, if you purchased any Palmetto Cash 5 tickets in Santee, it's time to check those tickets. The winning ticket must be claimed before 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 26, at the Columbia Claims Center.

Players for the South Carolina Lottery have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. If the prize is not claimed by the deadline, then the $300,000 in winnings will be deposited into the Education Lottery Account, which helps support educational programs in South Carolina.

Does Palmetto Cash 5 still have the Power-Up option?

While the lucky winner mentioned above did add the Power-Up option to triple their prize winnings, do future Palmetto Cash 5 players have that same option of adding Power-Up to their tickets?

The answer: no. The South Carolina Education Lottery got rid of the Power-Up option, but now all tickets come with a Multiplier. Each play costs $2 for Palmetto Cash 5. Each play is now randomly assigned a Multiplier number of 2, 3, 5, or 10. The ticket will have this Multiplier printed on it, and it will multiply all non-jackpot winning prizes.

More information regarding the South Carolina Education Lottery

The South Carolina Education Lottery and its staff are fully committed to increasing education funding while maintaining the highest standards of integrity in the lottery industry. In January 2022, the SCEL sold their first lotto ticket. Since that time, the SCEL has transferred $7.8 billion for appropriation by the General Assembly.

For the SCEL, net proceeds from every dollar spent by players are returned to the state. How is this done? The SCEL returns the money in the form of funding for prizes won, education, retailer commissions, and payments to contractors for goods and services.

FY2023, the 21st year of operations for the South Carolina Education Lottery, was the second-best year ever. For FY2023, the SCEL had $2.4 billion in ticket sales, with $598.3 million of that being transferred to education. In addition, the SCEL also handed out $1.6 billion in prize winnings to players and $169.1 million in commissions earned by retailers.

Enjoy playing the South Carolina Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
