Sometimes, it takes a little while for a big win to sink in, which is what this lucky Texas Lottery player must have done before claiming their Powerball prize!

The winning ticket

The Austin resident, who chose to remain anonymous, recently claimed their Powerball prize worth $1 million. The winning ticket was from the March 23 drawing and was purchased at 7-Eleven Convenience Store #35801A, located at 9704 Giles Lane in Austin.

The winning white ball numbers for that March 23 draw were 6, 23, 25, 34, and 51, and the Powerball number was 3. The lucky winner chose the Quick Pick option, so the computer generated their winning numbers. The winning ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed out on the Powerball number to win the $1 million prize.

Powerball - a quick overview

Powerball jackpots start at $20 million and roll until the jackpot is won. To win the jackpot, players must match five numbers from a field of 69 numbers and one Powerball number from a field of 26 numbers.

Players can also choose the Power Play option for $1 more per play, which multiplies any non-Grand Prize winnings by two, three, four, five, or ten times. If a player matches all the white balls without matching the Powerball number, like the winner above, and chooses the Power Play option, they automatically win $2 million regardless of the Power Play number. All other non-Grand Prize wins will be multiplied by the Power Play number selected.

$3 million scratch ticket winner!

Another big winner recently made their way to the Texas Lottery headquarters. The Baytown resident claimed a top prize winning ticket worth $3 million playing the Texas Lottery scratch ticket game called 500X Loteria Spectacular.

The winning ticket was purchased at Angels Bayway LLC, located at 7119 Bayway Drive in Baytown. This winner also chose to remain anonymous.

500X Loteria Spectacular offers more than $309.5 million in total prizes, with this big win being the first of four top prizes worth $3 million to be claimed. The overall odds of winning any prize in 500X Loteria Spectacular are 1 in 3.21.
