What would you do if you logged into your online account for the Michigan Lottery and saw you had a $100,000 prize pending?

That is exactly what happened to one lucky Powerball player in Michigan, and how did she react? Her “heart started pounding and adrenaline pumping” after she noticed she won $100,000 playing Powerball.

The winning drawing

Audrey Fines, the 41-year-old Ypsilanti woman who won $100,000, matched four white balls and the Powerball during the March 6 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Fines selected the Power Play option, which doubled her winnings to $100,000 that night. She purchased the winning ticket online at the Michigan Lottery website.

For the March 6 drawing, the winning white ball numbers were 6, 19, 28, 44, and 6, and the Powerball was 10.

“Winning feels great”

Fines told lottery officials that she normally uses her lottery account to scan instant tickets. However, she will randomly purchase some tickets online.

She said:

I logged into my Michigan Lottery account one morning, and when I saw a $100,000 prize pending, my heart started pounding and the adrenaline was pumping.

What do you do when you find out you won $100,000? For Fines, it was run upstairs and tell her mother. She told her:

I don't want to give you a heart attack, but I think I'm having a heart attack myself because I just won $100,000!

Collecting her winnings

Fines recently visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. With her winnings, she said she is planning on paying some bills, taking a vacation, and then putting the rest in savings.

She added:

Winning feels great and means financial freedom for me and my family.

Powerball ticket options

In Michigan, Powerball plays can be purchased for $2 each at lottery retailers across the state, or you can buy them online at the Michigan Lottery website.

For an additional $1, players can add the Power Play option — as Fines did — and multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million.

Players can also add the Double Play option, which also costs an additional $1 per play. The Double Play gives players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.

When are Powerball drawings held?

The Powerball drawings take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 10:59 p.m. ET. Powerball is available to play in 45 states, Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

With no jackpot winner in the last drawing, the estimated jackpot for this Saturday, March 23's Powerball drawing is $750 million. If the winner ticket chose the cash option, they would take home an estimated $357.3 million.

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
