Jackpocket.com review

Last updated on: Apr 24, 2025

Jackpocket.com is a popular, high-profile contender among companies working to give lottery players more options to play online. Users are gravitating toward this service because of its mainstream visibility but also because, put simply, it does the job well. Jackpocket.com is a digital courier service, which means that you pick your games and numbers online, and a representative buys your lottery tickets from licensed retailers on your behalf. It’s available in 16 states and Puerto Rico, which currently makes it the most widely available lottery courier service. It’s a solid bet for online lottery players, experienced or novice.

Jackpocket.com overview

Jackpocket.com is one of the biggest lottery courier contenders to come out of the USA. Founded in 2013, it’s headquartered in New York and is owned by DraftKings, which offers several forms of lottery and other gambling options. In another newsworthy moment, famed investor Mark Cuban participated in a $120 million Jackpocket funding round in 2021. It’s been featured on national news outlets and was the first company to develop a mobile lottery courier service app five years ago.

Jackpocket.com has also either won or has been shortlisted for several awards, including an Appy Award, a National Council on Problem Gambling Award, a Global Gaming Awards 2023 Digital Operator of the Year Award, and a VentureFizz Spark Award. They’ve also been voted one of Built In’s Best Places to Work multiple times. If you’re looking for the most public-facing accolades, Jackpocket.com is the one.

But when you’re buying a lotto ticket, you’re not thinking about the awards or investors. So, what about the user experience?

It’s safe to say that the scrutiny has shifted Jackpocket’s quality into high gear. Buying lotto tickets (and scratch-offs in some states) on Jackpocket is safe, legal, and responsive. Like with every lotto site, if you’re playing in a state, you have to be physically present in that state. Jackpocket requires that you disable your VPN on your devices to participate. But once you’ve done that, the experience is pretty smooth, from ticket purchase to customer support (they answered my email about VPN support within 5 minutes).

Availability

Jackpocket is currently available in 17 U.S. jurisdictions.

They offer state games, Mega Millions, Powerball, and some states offer scratch-offs. Use the site for real-time draw results, too.

Jackpocket is available in:

Location restrictions

Jackpocket.com complies with all state lottery laws and restrictions. Like all courier services, this means that you can only play in select states.

  • While on Jackpocket, you must be physically located in the state where you’re playing. If you’re in Massachusetts, for example, you can only play lottery games that are available there.
  • You will be asked to disable your VPN, which will allow the service to track your location. You will not be able to play without doing this.
  • You will be able to play most, if not all, of the local games in each state.
  • Scratch-offs are available in Colorado and Oregon but nowhere else yet.
  • Some features aren’t available in every state. For example, public pools (see “Key Features”) aren’t available in New York or New Jersey.

How to use it

The site and app are very user-friendly.

Here are the steps to creating an account, purchasing a ticket, and monitoring the results.

  1. Create a login. Disable your VPN by going to your settings and switching it off. You will also have to prove that you are older than 18. The requirement is 21 in Arizona.
  2. Click on the games in your state and order tickets.
  3. You can select “autofund” if you’d prefer your account to be automatically replenished, and Smart Order will buy your favorite tickets for you regularly.
  4. Use Quick Pick or choose your own numbers. A courier will pick up your ticket for you.
  5. You’re free to view scans of your ticket in the app anytime.
  6. You can use the app to check lottery results in real time.
  7. Get automatic notifications when you win.
  8. Small winnings will be automatically transferred to your account. Larger prizes must be collected in person.

Key features

Public lottery pools

You can easily enter public pools, which are made up of groups of people buying tickets so they can each split the winnings. You can enter as many pools as you like, but you can enter it only once. This is not available in New York or New Jersey.

Private lottery pools

You can create a private pool with friends and family. All members need to be located in the same state. This is also not available in New York or New Jersey.

Smart Order

Like a subscription, Smart Order will buy tickets to your favorite games for you either using Quick Pick numbers or numbers that you want to use repeatedly.

Super Pick

This is Quick Pick on steroids. Super Pick will choose quick picks for every special and standard ball in Mega Millions and Powerball. Nathaniel N. from New Jersey won $50,000 using this feature on January 1, 2024.

Cash referrals

Use a referral link to bring a friend to Jackpocket.com and get $10 in free credits. Your friends get $2 in credits on their first purchase.

Sweepstakes

Enter sweepstakes for various prizes, like $3,000 toward a vacation of your choosing or $100 toward bets on DraftKings. Simply activate the offer of your choosing, and every dollar spent on Jackpocket will increase your chances.

Customer Service

Customer service is very fast on the Jackpocket site. It’s all through email. Ask a question and get an answer back very quickly, as long as your question is relatively simple. The answers I received were mostly correct, but the tougher they got, the more canned the answers seemed. For most concerns, the tool is just right.

How do they compare with the competition?

Of the major U.S. websites, Jackpocket has the most lottery games. Jackpot.com is available in more states, but Jackpocket offers more local games within those states. Jackpocket is the only service that accepts PayPal, Venmo, and e-check. Jackpocket is one of the few services that offers scratch-offs. It has also won awards for its responsible gaming, culture, digital functionality, and more. The Jackpocket app is available on Google Play, only in certain states.

Site security

The site is secure. It doesn’t store credit card numbers, just the last four digits and expiration date. No information is stored from user IDs. Name, email, phone number, zip code, birthday, and optional gender are stored.

Fees

For an account in New York, Jackpocket.com charges 9.90% of your funded amount plus $.29. This is low, comparatively. Your fee depends on where you are playing, and the fee will be made available to you before you complete your transaction. Jackpocket accepts PayPal, Apple Pay, major credit cards, and e-check. If your credit or debit card providers won’t allow you to transact directly with the lottery, Play+ is an FDIC-insured account that does allow it. You’d simply transfer funds from that account into Jackpocket.

History and wins

Jackpocket was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in New York City. It was purchased by DraftKings in 2024. It features high-end investors and has garnered several awards for its app and culture.

  • In July 2024, Joyce D. from Arizona earned $1 million on Powerball on Jackpocket.com using the site’s Quick Pick feature.
  • In March 2024, an anonymous winner from Cincinnati, Ohio, won $2 million on Powerball using Jackpocket.com.
  • Jerold C. from Colorado won $3.1 million on the Colorado Lotto+ in October 2024 and more!

Do they have an app?

Yes, and their app has been around the longest, allowing Jackpocket.com to work out the kinks. The app is available in New York, New Jersey, and New Hampshire and is free to download on the App Store and on Google Play.

iOS users can download it directly from the Apple Store.

Android users can download the app from the Google Play store.

Users can purchase either on the app or from the website.

Responsible play features

Jackpocket is a member of the National Council on Problem Gambling, and it’s certified through the organization’s assessment program. Jackpocket also won the NCPG’s 2019 Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its commitment to responsible play. That said, its responsible play features are pretty similar to other sites.

There’s a self-exclusion feature, user funding limits, and listed resources on the site.

Takeaway

If you live in one of the 20 jurisdictions where Jackpocket is currently available, the site is a fantastic option. It’s a clean, easy experience with tons of state games on its roster. The company responds quickly to most questions and complaints, even if they’re posted publicly. For anyone trying online lotto for the first time, Jackpocket.com is a great option.
