About the West Virginia Lottery
The West Virginia State Lottery sold its first ticket on January 9, 1986—over 1.5 million tickets were sold that day. The lottery continues to be popular today. Players are able to choose from numerous instant win games; the in-state draws of Daily 3, Daily 4, Keno, and Cash 25; and multi-state jackpot draws including Mega Millions, Powerball, and Lotto America. West Virginia also operates a video lottery system.
To date, more than $9 billion from lottery ticket sales has gone toward public education, senior services, and state tourism.
