About the Oregon Lottery
Oregon State Lottery tickets first went on sale in 1985. The lottery started with an instant-win game, and soon added Oregon's Game Megabucks, a still-popular jackpot game. The Oregon Lottery was the first state to introduce Video Lottery Terminals—24-hour-managed video lottery systems—in 1992.
During its first 10 years in operation, the Oregon Lottery allocated proceeds toward economic development and the creation of jobs. Currently, lottery profits help a number of state programs, including state parks, habitat, public schools, and veteran services.
